Appointment Policy
Before your first appointment
When you schedule your first appointment, our staff may ask about
the nature of your problem and your physician’s arrangements for your
care. This helps us provide the most efficient plan for your care.
We need all of your medical records related to your neurological
condition at the time of your first visit. This includes any X-rays,
CT and/or MRI scans or angiograms or previous surgery records.
If you need to obtain X-rays or records from a doctor other than
the physician who referred you to PNNI, please have these sent to us
before your first appointment.
It is also very important for our medical staff to know exactly
what medications you take and if you have any known drug allergies.
Please fill out our patient appointment form online and bring it with
you for your office appointment.
Scheduling appointments
You may schedule an appointment at PNNI by calling 717-920-PNNI
(7664) or (888-920-4360).
It is important for you to understand your treatment plan, so we
encourage questions. Before you come in for your appointment, we
suggest that you take a moment to write down any questions you want to
ask the physician.
When you arrive at the office, please tell the staff if you have
changed your address, telephone number, primary doctor, insurance
coverage or other important information.
Delays
Due to the nature of our practice, we may have to delay your
appointment time while your physician deals with an emergency or a
patient with a complicated problem. We know your wait is inconvenient,
and we appreciate your understanding.
If an emergency causes us to cancel your appointment, we apologize
for any inconvenience. We will reschedule your appointment as soon as
possible.
Canceling
At PNNI, we ask for at least a 24 hours notice when you need to
cancel or change your appointment. This give us the opportunity to
give an appointment to a patient with an urgent need. Please let us
know as soon as possible if you are unable to keep your appointment.
Medication
Please remember to ask your doctor to write any needed
prescriptions while you are in the office. If necessary, you can ask
your pharmacist to call during office hours to have your prescription
refilled. Be sure to give the pharmacist the name of your medicine and
the prescription number on the bottle. The office assistant can refill
most prescriptions over the phone.
Any new prescription does require your doctor’s authorization,
which is best given during office hours.
Telephone Calls
When you call our office, we make every attempt to arrange your
appointment, answer your questions or otherwise address the reason for
your call.
It is not always possible for your own physician to speak
personally to you when you call, but one of our doctors, physician
assistants or trained office staff will return your call as soon as
possible.
We ask that you call with questions during office hours, when
people are available who have access to your records and know your
case. If your questions are not urgent, we suggest you write them down
and bring them to your next office visit.
After-Hour Emergencies
One of our physicians is on-call 24 hours a day for emergencies. If
you should have an emergency at any time, call 717-920-4360. Our
answering service contacts the on-call physician immediately.
If the physician determines you need immediate help, you will be
sent to an appropriate hospital emergency room, where a member of the
hospital staff will treat you. Your physician will be notified about
the situation.
Please limit your after-hours calls to emergencies only. Of course,
if you are facing a life-threatening condition, you should call 911 or
to the nearest hospital emergency room immediately.
